Camcastar is built on one principle: your camera and your recordings belong to you, not us. This page explains exactly what happens to your data when you use camcastar.com.

Your Video Never Touches Our Server

When you connect your phone to your laptop using Camcastar, the video stream travels directly between your two devices using WebRTC peer-to-peer technology. It does not pass through the Camcastar server at any point. We cannot see it, we do not store it, and we have no access to it.

The same applies to your recordings. When you record a video, it is captured and stored locally on your phone. The file transfer to your laptop also happens directly over your local Wi-Fi connection, not through any server. No copy of your recording is ever sent to or stored by Camcastar.

What the Server Actually Does

The Camcastar server handles only the WebRTC signaling step. This is a small exchange of connection setup messages (a few hundred bytes each) that helps your phone and laptop find each other on your network. These messages contain no video, no audio, and no personal data. Once the connection is established, the server is completely out of the picture.

Session identifiers are held temporarily in server memory and deleted automatically when the session ends or after one hour. Nothing is written to a database or stored permanently.

What We Do Not Collect

Analytics

Camcastar uses Google Analytics to understand general usage patterns such as page views and session duration. This data is anonymized and contains no camera feed, no recordings, and no personally identifiable information. You can opt out at any time using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

This site uses Google AdSense to display ads. Google AdSense may use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. These cookies are set by Google, not by Camcastar. You can manage your ad preferences at Google Ads Settings. To learn how Google uses data across its partners, visit Google's partner data policy.
